Debates, Back Biceps and Legs, & Oat Pancakes

image

I got myself in a situation on Facebook. I posted something suggesting that Obama was lying. I’m not going into the details. We`’ll just say my post got hit with a lot of comments. My cousin and I have totally different views. I don’t think I’ve ever had a disagreement with her. Although one time I did get mad at her for cutting my cabbage patch dolls hair. 😀 I think It’s pretty amazing that two people can have such different opinions yet get along the way we do. When all was said and done I was grateful for our battle. I learned a lot. I also had a good time coming up with my next comment. I think I aggravated everyone in the house though. I was on Facebook for hours. Wanna know what’s funny? It felt kind of like mommy time to me. A little escape from all my responsibilities to argue.

I cleaned my neighbor’s home today and cleaning for 5 hours is a workout in itself.  I didn’t think I’d have the energy to work out. I went home had a protein smoothie and I was ready to go to town. I did this circuit. I didn’t have a treadmill to use for the running, so I did High knees instead. I warmed up by mixing up jumping jacks and jogging in place for 5 minutes. I cooled down by stretching from my head to my toes for 5 minutes.

For breakfast I made an oatmeal pancake. I put 1\2 cup oats, 1 egg, 1/4 cottage cheese, 1/4 banana, sprinkle of sea salt in blender. Blend well. Turn on the griddle and spray. Pour mixture onto griddle low heat. Flip when ready. I spreaded peanut butter on top and chopped the other 1\4 of banana on top. Poured on my sugar free syrup and dove in. Isn’t this picture someone else took pretty? Someday I’ll get one of those professional cameras. Someday.

Sleepless night, New protein powder, Circuit & A Smoothie For Breakfast

It was one of those nights where I woke up at 1:00 am totally wired and ready for the day to start.  I was even wanting to make some breakfast and have a cup a joe.  It was hard to calm myself down.  I realized that I had woke up because my lower back was aching like mad crazy.  All those darn Mountain climbers and burpees are haunting me in my sleep.  Somehow I managed to fall back asleep for a few hours, but during the time I was awake I managed to preplan the entire day in my mind.  I despise that.  Even if I tell myself to stop thinking, I just can’t.  By 3 am I had painted my house, found a bird house and redecorated most of my house (in my mind-of course).

I’m babysitting a sweet little baby today and he is taking a little nap, so I can tell you today’s workout (Which I have yet to do) and my morning breakfast.  For starters I ran out of protein about 5 days ago and I was missing my smoothies.  I finally picked some up yesterday.  I normally stick to vanilla or chocolate, but I wanted to try something different.  I considered chocolate mint, but I know that after 3 days of chocolate mint I’ll feel like vomiting, so I got cookies n cream.  I used it today for breakfast because I needed something quick and easy.  I have a feeling that I will be getting sick of that one pretty fast.  I wish I could afford to get 3 different flavors because I love variety.  What is your favorite flavor protein powder?  Mine is Vanilla because it’s not overbearing.  I can create so many different flavored pancakes, oatmeal, smoothies and just about anything else with it and I don’t feel like all I’m tasting is Vanilla Protein Powder.

This morning I made a

Nutty Cookies n Cream Protein Shake (without the cookies)

No this is not my picture…I stole it because my pictures just aren’t pretty. It’s a nice pick, but it’s actually making me want a cookie.  Sorry folks, there is no real cookies in my recipe.  I’m sure once in a while you could do that for a treat.  I can’t imagine having a cookie in the morning though, doesn’t seem right, but if you want to…hey go for it.  I was so upset that I didn’t have anymore Unsweetened Almond Breeze Vanilla milk because that helps make my smoothies really creamy.  I had to have water instead..boo hoo!

Here’s what I used:

-My Ninja Blender

-1 cup of water

-1 scoop of Cookies n Cream Protein powder (You can use what you have at home)

1 frozen banana

-1-2 tbsp Peanut butter – NO JIFFY OR PETER PAN PEEPS (I typically use Adam’s because of the price and nutritional value- PB2 is a good option if you want the peanut butter flavor but are trying to cut down on calories)

-a little salt and Stevia in the raw

2 ice cubes because mine was super watery and I don’t like watery smoothies – I like ice cream like smoothies 🙂

All you have to do is fit all these things in a blender and push the button – YIPPEE!  I cheat even more.  I put my ingredients in the smaller blender piece/bowl (I don’t know what it’s called) and eat my smoothie with a spoon right out of it….less to clean up.  I have to break my frozen nana in half to get it in there.

Workout for today…hope I get to it.

I’m going to take the baby on the walk since it’s not as hot as it usually is and then at some point today I will be doing this circuit…..

I’m going to have to look up a few things here like the inchworm?  Hmm…I thought Hamstring ball curls sounded like cake….they are stinking hard.  Hurts the back of my legs like crazy.  3 rounds…30 sec for each move and a cool down.  It sounds so bad, but it feels so good.  Have a great hump day (I actually hate that people call Wednesday’s hump day….sounds nasty).

My Morning Fling, Strength Heavy Circuit Training and Peaches and Cream

Ahhh! I woke up today at 8:30 am. How? Why?  I don’t know and I don’t care.  All I know is it was well needed.  It’s crazy because no matter what time I go to bed I never wake up later than 7.  The house was so quiet because Chad was already off to work and Ayden was still sleeping, so I snuck out, put on a pot of coffee and had a morning fling with Dexter.  I can’t believe there is just ONE episode left 😦  What show will I turn to now?  Nothing can compare.  It’s nuts to think that I wouldn’t even watch it and now I don’t want it to end.  I just started watching it about 4 months ago.  I watched an episode every morning during the summer before Ayden woke up between the hours of 6-7 am.  Then if Chad was gone I would watch an episode at night.  It was my sweet little “Momma time” Coffee and Dexter.  I shall miss it.

Once again  I was determined to work out the Greek Yogurt into my breakfast mainly because I am completely out of protein powder.  I looked through my yogurt flavors and saw that I had peach greek yogurt.  I could think of nothing other than a childhood favorite, peaches and cream.

Peaches and Cream
Here’s what you need:

-1/2 cup oats

– 1Egg

-1 container of Peach Yoplait Greek Yogurt (or your preference)

-sea salt

– 1 tbsp Pecans (or nuts of choice)

– sugar free syrup

-1 tbsp of sugar free French vanilla creamer (I’m sure there is a healthier option, but that’s all I had at the moment)

It’s the same as yesterday…

Heat your griddle or skillet on medium heat and spray with olive oil spray (Next, I’m going to get Coconut oil spray)

Then, get out your blender (I have a NINJA- hi yaw) Add oats, egg, yogurt and a dash of sea salt.  BLEND

Pour onto griddle and throw Pecans on top of the mix…flip when outside become golden and sturdy.

While pancake is cooking.  Put some sugar-free syrup and cream into a microwavable bowl and heat for 30 seconds

Put pancake on a plate and pour on your creamy syrup (You can add a few more pecans to the top)

I actually have a Dr.’s appointment today and I have to get ready, but I will leave you with a wonderful circuit. This circuit called for BIG TIME weights. I actually used a weight bar. Thankfully I found mine in the garage. If you don’t have one, just use what you have for now….weights, cans, or your bodyweight. I don’t have a exercise ball, so I used Ayden’s Big outdoor ball. Be careful when doing this because it doesn’t seem as stable. In the words of Tony Horton, “Don’t break your face.”

You need –
*An exercise Ball
*Weight Bar – including 2 – 10 lb weights- one for each side of bar = 40 lbs (I did not do the set of dead lifts with 50 lbs, mainly because I didn’t want to have to keep switching out weights…I despise that)
*Music 🙂 It helps keep me going!
*Water
strength heavy

I’m going to head to goodwill after my appointment today and look for some weighted exercise balls and a new jump rope because ours looks like it’s dying. I LOVE GOODWILL!

Hubby’s Home, Circuit Training & a Nasty Concotion

Well, this morning I’m happy to say my husband is back.  Due to the flooding here in Colorado Springs I didn’t know if I would see him at all this week.  For those of you that don’t know he is a Soldier for the Army.  He was out in the field on base at Ft. Carson for a week doing some training and because of the flooding they closed the roads, so they couldn’t get back.  Luckily, the rain stopped and they were allowed to leave.

I always feel so much more secure when my husband is home.  I realize the first night he returns from his trainings just how tired I am because I usually have trouble sleeping while he’s away. I did feel somewhat better this time because of our in home security system, which is our dog Sandy. She use to sleep in her Kennel at night, which she seemed to like, but my son likes her to sleep by his bed. She sneaks out of his room and sleeps in the living room or in the hallway. She has this killer bark that would put fear in the hearts of many, so I know if someone was trying to break in she probably would either scare them away or would wake me so that I would have enough time to call for help, grab Ayden and hide in a closet. I make sure to have the phone by me while I sleep. Perhaps I’m paranoid, but I rather be slightly paranoid and prepared than the alternative.
SAMSUNG
This is my killer dog, doesn’t she just look lethal!

Anyways, here’s the equipment you will need and today’s circuit.
-Jump rope
-Weights
-Mat
-Timer (I use my phone)
-Water
-remember to look up exercise beforehand if you don’t know them.

ab-workout

I found this on a blog called, Peanut Butterfingers. I will be using many circuits from her blog. I have to admit I’m pretty sore today. The circuit training must be working some muscles out that have been at rest. Perhaps TMI but my butt itches, I wonder if that happens as a result of working out…perhaps it’s growing. HA!

As far as breakfast goes….UM I’m very dissatisfied, but at least I’m honest. I despised my breakfast but I still ate it because I hating wasting food and I needed to eat. I don’t really know why I’m posting the recipe, but I figure perhaps you can come up with something better using the same ingredients. At least I got my protein in. I shall call this, “The Nastiest Greek Yogurt Egg Bread of the Century.”

Greek

Here’s what I used:
2 slices of wheat bread
2 Eggs
Sea salt
Cinnamon
Chobani Black Cherry Greek Yogurt (It was not recalled)
Coconut Flakes
Oats
Sugar-free Syrup ** loved the syrup with a dash of salt, stevia and cinnamon (best part of this meal)

So here’s what I did.
I sprayed my pan with olive oil spray.

Then place my bread into the pan.

I put one egg on top off each piece of bread, sprinkle it with sea salt and covered.

I let it cook (the eggs looked pretty raw even after cooking for 5 minutes covered), so I flipped the bread and eggs.

I then added enough Greek yogurt to cover the bare side of the bread and covered for a few more minutes.

While this was cooking I made the syrup. I poured the syrup into a microwavable bowl and added sea salt, stevia and cinnamon and microwaved for 30 seconds.

I place the Greek Yogurt Egg Bread onto a plate and sprinkle on coconut flakes, a dash of oats, and cinnamon and added my yummy syrup.

Then I ate it. I think it was the texture of the yogurt on top that I didn’t like. Perhaps yogurt topped pancakes would have been better or perhaps no yogurt on any type of bread would be best…maybe mixed into pancake batter or with oatmeal. Hmm. Perhaps I’ll try that next time.
