Journal – Day 6-9 of Jennifer Aniston’s Workouts

Day 6

Sunday, October 20th – I did a lighter workout today. Ayden had a sleepover and pulled an all nighter on me.  His friend and him stayed up ALL night.  I couldn’t believe it, although I used to do that with my friends. We went to church .  I had just enough time to get a workout in before the Texans played.  I did a few videos on youtube.  The first video was this cardio video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52uvwCi03yE&feature=player_embedded#t=5 – beware for a super chipper Denise Austin.   The second is this a yoga video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fsQPM9xek8&feature=player_embedded#t=0.  The website I have been using for free yoga wasn’t working.  I was bummed, but I found another yoga instructor from some youtube videos I really like. A LOT!

Her name is Sadie and she is a rock star. Many of her video says “weight loss” but she talks about how many times weight loss is not just physical, it’s emotional. I liked that idea. Excess baggage comes in many forms.

Day 7
Monday Oct 21

Monday I decided to do two more videos I saw the night before. I keep going video crazy. It’s like finding treasure. I did an HIIT video and HOLY COW! It KILLED ME, but in a good way. I think I’ve found my two new work out obsessions, but CRUD I have to move on to another actress soon. My two weeks are almost up. Here’s the links…

Day 8
Tuesday Oct 22

Again, I did an HIIT Workout that I loved and hated. I also did another yoga video by Sadie….I’m finally getting the breathing down. I have to shut my door because some of the breathing like the “Lion’s Breath” is kind of embarrassing. I don’t want Chad to think I’m losing it. I’m sure pretty soon I won’t care.

Day 9
Today Oct 23

Today was the day of bad news. Someone I knew a very long time ago passed away. I hadn’t seen this person in a long time and I was shocked at how much the news hit me to the core. I think I’m hurting right now, not for myself, but for others. I know what it’s like to lose someone. Someone special and someone that is dear to your heart. My sweet brother died almost nine years ago and it’s still feels like someone is stabbing my heart each day. This man was only 34 and he had a beautiful wife and 3 children. I ache for them. I was very close to many of his friends and I know how much they cared for him. I think I feel just as much pain when I hurt for others, as I do when I hurt for myself. I can’t stop thinking about it. I cleaned today and I decided to get some of those feeling out. I did an 8 minute HIIT cardio workout, followed by a HIIT abs workout and then a 30 minute yoga workout with Sadie. I hope tomorrow brings some peace to those that are mourning. All I can do from where I’m at is pray.

Day 5

It’s a gorgeous day outside.  It was a bit chilly, but I decided to throw on my shorts and take a run.  I did this for cardio-

2 min light jog

30 sec sprint

30 sec rest

1:30 min light jog

30 sec sprint

1:00 min light jog

30 sec sprint

30 sec walk

1 min light jog

30 sec sprint

1 min light jog

30 sec walk

REPEAT – I only repeated once.  I wrote this entire cardio plan on the inside of my hand because I wanted to play Pandora and use my stopwatch on my phone.  When I got back home my legs were RED from the cold air.

After my run I went inside -shut my bedroom door and did Yoga.  I did a little too much yoga because now I’m beyond relaxed and need a nap.  Not a good thing when your son is having a sleep over.  No naps allowed.  I really enjoyed yoga today.  I notice that most the time I just want to get it over with, but not today.  It felt great.  I did this entire series….

One of the videos was AWESOME!  You karate chopped your shoulders and kind of pounded your entire body gently with your fists.  It was like getting a massage.  Then you danced around, which could be really uncomfortable to most people, but I has fun with it.  I even started laughing at myself because I looked like an ape.  I hope my neighbors didn’t see me.

Day 2

I completed this cardio blast video http://www.gaiamtv.com/tv/firm-time-crunch-cardioand then completed all the videos under Yogalosophy http://www.gaiamtv.com/tv/mandy-ingbers-yogalosophy-yoga-vide.  A few were only a couple minutes long.

Remember you can sign up for a free month at http://www.gaiamtv.com/

Day 3 – I couldn’t go outside because I was waiting for baby Elijah to get the house.  He’s sooo sweet! Ah, I just forgot what my blog was about when I pictured his cute face.  Okay, back to the workout.  I needed to get some cardio intervals in.  I googled cardio intervals and clicked on images- BAM there was a bunch.  I chose this one.

It took me about 32 minutes. I put my stopwatch on my phone and followed the circuit. I did the circuit 2X through.  Then I did this yoga video….http://www.gaiamtv.com/tv/sara-ivanhoe-s-weight-loss-resolution-system1q2e6t 90-=

I believe it was for beginners. I didn’t want to do the same rountine that I had did the last two days.  Wish there were more yogalosophy videos out there or that Mandy Ingber could come to my house each day.  I know there is one DVD you can order on amazon for about $14, but by the time I get it, the two weeks would be up 😦

Today’s already day 4? Really, that’s CRAZY!  It’s snowing outside today, so I’m going to keep it indoors 🙂snowfall I did this circuit 2x through. > It took me about 25 minutes. I didn’t love marching for 1 min, so I kind of marched and danced to Pandora. I like having music playing in the background. Then I did this 30 minute long yoga detox routine. Okay before you do it PLEASE blow your nose. They should of told you that first thing. You’ll see what I’m talking about if you do the video. HA! p>

Celebrity #1 Jennifer Aniston’s Work Out Routine

Before I write anything else I want you to hear this LOUD & CLEAR…..LOVE THE BODY GOD HAS BLESSED YOU WITH!  You have been made exactly the way you are! If you are a little shorter or taller than most people -embrace it!  If you by nature have always been  a little heavier or slender than others -embrace it!  That doesn’t mean you can’t create goals for yourself or that you shouldn’t desire change.  We should all desire to change ourselves.  My goal is to be strong both physically and mentally and to challenge myself in some way every day, to try different things.  I want to let go of the negativity.  Let go of downing myself based on my weight and appearance.  Each day I should thank God for creating me and I hope you thank him for creating you.  I do admit that sometimes it takes being in total despair to get pulled out of it.  That’s what our God is doing for me.  He is pulling me out of the darkness, not quickly, but just the way he has planned. He can pull you out of the darkness too, but you have to let him. Let go and listen.

In order to love the body you have, you need to take care of it.  Fuel your body with the food it needs and enjoy the food you are putting in your body.  Food was made to be enjoyed.  I can tell that the best food I have ever had are whole foods….apples, pumpkin, squash, nuts, tomatoes, etc.  Foods with color and great tastes. I feel so amazing after I eat something that I know is doing good things for my body. Sounds a little looney, but I image my body thanking me and smiling when I do good things for it. I have noticed since I began working out again that now I crave my workouts.  I love doing them in the morning and when I can’t get to them I feel a little bummed.  I desire to do the movements.  I can’t say I felt that way when I started.  Newton’s Law is so true, “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion.”  When I’m not working out -I don’t want to start.  When I’m working out- I don’t want to stop.  It just feels so good.

So then if I think it’s important to love your own body, then why??? am I focusing on Celeb workouts.  Well, I’m not focusing on transforming into these women. I don’t want to.  I don’t want to be them, look like them, have their life- I like my life.  However, the celebs I’m focusing on are highly paid celebrities that are HEALTHY and stay in great shape.  Let’s face it, they have the money to pay for the very best trainers.  They can transform in a matter of a few months to play a role.  They know what works for them.  I think we each have something that works best for us and I’d love to find that balance that makes me feel at my very best.  The great thing is that some of the routines and workouts the celebs do, I have never done.  It’s fun to try new things.  PLEASE do not get focused on looking like these people.  Remember that’s not the point, the point is to try new things to make staying in shape fresh and fun.  I can’t promise that these routines are 100% legit because these people are not my friends, but I will do my best to find out their routines.  I have decided against not taking part in their diets because I don’t think after having an eating disorder that I’m at that point, maybe I’ll never be.  I don’t think that’s a good idea for me.  However if you want to try, go for it.

The first Celeb I’ve researched is Jennifer Aniston.  I felt like a stalker when googling all these things about her, but oh well.

Here’s what I found:

Jennifer Aniston does at least 22 minutes of Cardio Intervals on the treadmill or elliptical (that means run/walk to raise and lower heart rate for increased fat burn) before doing Yogalosophy.  Yogalosophy is a type of yoga.  I found it to be more challenging than the typical yoga I’ve done.  It’s more than holding poses and stretching.  It burn’s!  She works with the creator of Yogalosophy, Mandi Ingber  at least 3 times a week and sometimes up to 2 hours a day!  Since I don’t have 2 1/2 hours each day to spend doing yoga and cardio I’ve decided to have this schedule to get the time in.

Instead of 3 days a week, I’ll be working out 6 days a week.  I will do 22 minutes of cardio intervals.  I min run – 30 sec walk before doing yoga. Then I will do 30-60 minutes of Yoga.  I signed up for 1 month of free yoga at this site.  http://www.gaiamtv.com/tv/mandy-ingbers-yogalosophy-yoga-video#play/4937 – you can sign up, but if you don’t want to keep it after a month put a message in your calendar to cancel it in one month otherwise they will charge your credit card.

Jennifer Aniston’s Diet: The Zone Diet- one must eat a ratio of 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% body fat. Basically you must eat whole lean proteins, whole foods, and low starchy fruits.  You can go to this site for more info http://zonediet.com/123

I will focus on one celeb’s work out routine for two weeks and then switch.  A month just seems to long, but a week doesn’t seem long enough.  I hope we all find a new workout we love and I hope we feel great while doing something good for ourselves.  I can’t wait.  I started yesterday, just to get an idea.  I ran outside (it was cold) for 22 minutes.  Ran 1 min, walked 30 sec.  Then I did this video  http://vdownload.eu/watch/758351-yogalosophy.html.  Loved it.  I loved reading all the inspiring messages as I worked out.  Have a great HUMP day! te-he!

My Last Circuit (well not really) and Pumpkin Oatmeal

I honestly don’t think this could have came at a better time.  I was really starting to get burnt out on the circuit and a breakfast blog. I need something new and I need some new recipes.  Today was a very busy and fun day.  Ayden was off of school and Chad was (is) at work pulling a 24 hour duty shift.  I had two little boys to babysit, so I decided to take them to America The Beautiful Park and out to lunch.  I had a blast, but come night time I was tired, but I pulled it together to do a quick 30 minute work out.  Thankfully last Tuesday I didn’t get my Tone It Up workout through email until after I actually worked out, so I had a go to.

You need 5 lb dumbells and that’s about it.  The video actually goes through each move, only problem is that they do 10 reps on the video and tell you to do 15 rep.  I chose to write down the movements and do 15 reps of each and the entire circuit 3 times.  I also did the short video on their new move of the week and about 50 sit ups.  I was going for 100, but I had to stop do to my sweet son needing momma.  He still needs me 🙂  A LOT actually.  I know I baby him, but I can’t help it.

If you are looking for a way to eat healthier and get toned I really like this website…here’s an example of some free stuff they give you.  A full week of workouts to get it as a part of your schedule.  They take all the research out of it.  You just have to do what’s right there in front of you.  Pretty nice.  If you sign up they also send you emails and give you recipes.

My breakfast was not great, but I think that’s because I was trying to rush. I knew the kids would be getting to the house at any minute.  I kind of like eating breakfast in peace before anyone’s there to ask me 100 questions or need me to do something for them.  If I don’t eat breakfast in peace I get annoyed and then grumpy.  I don’t know why this is?  Perhaps because it’s taken me my entire adult life to actually eat breakfast.  Sometimes I’m still not for it, so I want it to be as wonderful as it possibly can.  Perhaps it’s my past ED rearing it’s ugly head telling me to eat before I change my mind or to eat without being seen? I don’t think that’s it.  I just want to sit and eat with no interruptions.

Here’s the recipe – 1/2 oats, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup pumpkin puree, sea salt, stevia, cinnamon – put together and nuke for 1 min 30 sec,  Add 1 tbsp Peanut butter and sugar free syrup. Nuke 30 sec.  Complete.

TIS DONE! On to the next adventure!

Deciding If Something Is Worth Saying, 2 Circuits and My Oatmeal Mood

I’m in a pickle. There is something I would like to discuss with someone, but I don’t know if it’s worth talking about. I’m sure I’ve been in this position before and I’m sure you have too. I need make a decision and fast.

What I have to say is not mean, but it is uncomfortable for me to talk about. I’ve only discussed my issue with hubby and one other person. They both say I should say something, but that still doesn’t mean that I should. Ugg. I wish I could give more details, but I can’t.

My question is how do you decide whether something is worth saying? Do you have a mental check list? I dunno. I just hate bouncy this back and forth in my head.

Friday I had two little ones, so that was my off day. Saturday I did a Living Room Circuit. Then today it so beautiful outside I did a Outdoor Circuit. It was a nice change. I can  really tell I’m getting stronger and in shape. I haven’t ran that much lately but today I ran for 30 minutes and I was fine. That’s not that long, but it’s good for me. Day 1 I almost didn’t make it 5 minutes. Here are the circuits….

It’s been kind of chilly in the morning and I’ve been in an oatmeal mood. I think my favorite was my pear oatmeal. Today I had oatmeal with Apple. Something about cinnamon and pears is just so delicious.

I mixed 1/2 cup oats with 1 cup water. I chopped up my pear (apple) and tossed it in. Then I added a dash of sea salt, Stevia and cinnamon. Nuked for 2 minutes. Oatmeal seemed a little more watery with the fruit, but I liked the change. Then I added a tbsp peanut butter and drizzled it with sugar free syrup. Nuked for 30 more seconds. Ate. Delish.

I bought some pumpkin puree and a new target brand coffee called buttery rum. I can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow!

Super Fast Blog

Today’s workout was a tough one…..Jillian Michaels is a beast. I mean that in a good way. She hurt me today. I found a free 50 minute circuit workout of hers online. Ouch! Here’s the link…. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FTT4W8ygJ7w&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DFTT4W8ygJ7w
I have quite a few of her DVDs so I didn’t feel that bad getting a freebie.
For breakfast I was back to the French toast sandwich thing. I just can’t stop. This time I used pears and peanut butter. Yum. Get two slices of bread, spread your peanut butter on one slice. Add your cut up pears. Put your other slice of bread on top. Then get your griddle started and spray. Crack and whisk an egg in a bowl. Dip your sandwich in the bowl. Carefully turn and soak the other side in egg. Griddle it. Place on a plate and add sugar free syrup, cinnamon and sea salt. Take a bite and fall in love.

Debates, Back Biceps and Legs, & Oat Pancakes

I got myself in a situation on Facebook. I posted something suggesting that Obama was lying. I’m not going into the details. We`’ll just say my post got hit with a lot of comments. My cousin and I have totally different views. I don’t think I’ve ever had a disagreement with her. Although one time I did get mad at her for cutting my cabbage patch dolls hair. 😀 I think It’s pretty amazing that two people can have such different opinions yet get along the way we do. When all was said and done I was grateful for our battle. I learned a lot. I also had a good time coming up with my next comment. I think I aggravated everyone in the house though. I was on Facebook for hours. Wanna know what’s funny? It felt kind of like mommy time to me. A little escape from all my responsibilities to argue.

I cleaned my neighbor’s home today and cleaning for 5 hours is a workout in itself.  I didn’t think I’d have the energy to work out. I went home had a protein smoothie and I was ready to go to town. I did this circuit. I didn’t have a treadmill to use for the running, so I did High knees instead. I warmed up by mixing up jumping jacks and jogging in place for 5 minutes. I cooled down by stretching from my head to my toes for 5 minutes.

For breakfast I made an oatmeal pancake. I put 1\2 cup oats, 1 egg, 1/4 cottage cheese, 1/4 banana, sprinkle of sea salt in blender. Blend well. Turn on the griddle and spray. Pour mixture onto griddle low heat. Flip when ready. I spreaded peanut butter on top and chopped the other 1\4 of banana on top. Poured on my sugar free syrup and dove in. Isn’t this picture someone else took pretty? Someday I’ll get one of those professional cameras. Someday.

BACK UP PLAN, I’m A Ballerina (for the day), Smooth Apple Oatmeal

As most of you know my hubby is going to be getting out of the Army in Nov 2014.  We are excited, but also a little scared of our future.  I’ve just started babysitting and cleaning to make ends meet.  Chad is the money maker 🙂  We have been discussing backup plans for our backup plans.  If Chad can’t find work in a field that he desires, like law enforcement or security then he may try to find ANY job that’s out there & go to school in the evenings.  If something crazy happens, then it’s time for momma to go to work.  I’m a little afraid of getting out there! I have a degree, but it’s a Bachelor’s  -Interdisciplinary Studies (general study).  Getting a degree with no specifics may have been the worse decisions I’ve ever made.  It may not have been the worst, but it’s up there.  I don’t know what I was thinking.  I have all these class credits and nothing to show for it.  Money down the old pipe.

Anyways, my backup plan was to use my MYCAA (this is $ for military spouses) to go to school to get my Associates in Nursing.  Then after 4 semesters I could take an exam and become an RN.  I think I have what it takes to be a good nurse & nursing jobs seem to always be needed.  I thought this would be a good place to start.  However, it seems impossible after doing my research.  A majority of my basic classes were taken 10-13 years ago.  Pikes Peak Community College says the prerequisites they require before starting the Nursing Program had to be taken no more than 7 years ago.  That means I would have to retake all those classes that I passed way back in 1999.   I also just tried to call the 4 (YES 4) colleges I went to in hopes of getting unofficial transcripts without any luck.  All I got were voicemails.  I can get an official transcript online, but that costs lots of $ and I may have to purchase them yet again for Pikes Peak Community College, if they need them.  I don’t want to do that.

I’m so lost.  I finally thought I’d found something for us – a good back up plan and it is so darn complicated.  I don’t know ever know if that means God is trying to steer me in another direction or He wants me to try harder.  God, please tell me what you want me to do?

Anyways before baby Elijah got here this morning I did a Tone it Up Tuesday Workout.  They hadn’t posted a new one for today yet, so I did an old video.  It was a Barre workout.  It actually burned like crazy.  I didn’t feel like 16 minutes was enough, so I did another video that was like it.  A ballet style workout.  I have done almost every darn circuit there is to do and my legs are so tired I honestly couldn’t do legs today.  Legs tomorrow.

As for breakfast I made Oatmeal.  I put a 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, and a small chopped apple in a bowl and placed in the microwave for 2 minutes.  When it was done cooking I put it in my Ninja and blended it up with a Tbsp of Peanut Butter.  It was smooth.  I don’t always like the taste of warm half crispy, half mushy apples in my oatmeal. I added sea salt, a little more peanut butter and sugar free syrup on top.  Breakfast was served.

Periods, PMS – Biceps, Triceps and Shoulders & Reese’s French Toast Sandwich – Weird combo HA!

WARNING! This post contains TMI, but the ladies can all relate.  I have never had a regular period.  The first time I had my menstrual cycle I was 17 years old.  After I had it once I don’t even remember when I got it again.  Probably not for another year or so.  I always wondered if it meant that I wouldn’t be able to have kids.  I got on birth control when I was around 20 (I think) to regulate my periods.  I was told that this would be beneficial in the long run. I didn’t like the way the birth control made me feel.  Maybe I just didn’t like having my period?  I know it made me get acne for the first time in my life.  I felt like a pimply, bloated, emotional cow.  I decided I didn’t want to take it anymore.

Well, right when I was about to be 24 I got the news that I was preggers.  I wasn’t trying to get pregnant, in fact I was cheering for the Texans.  I was devastated and afraid.  I wanted to cheer! I wanted to finish school! I wanted to be married! I didn’t want to tell my parents! CRAP! I truly thought it was probably impossible for me to have a baby without having a period.

Charles Weston Ayden Selby was born (almost) nine months later and we were joyful.   All the fear was gone.  I was absolutely in love or should I say, ENCHANTED with our baby boy.  After experiencing motherhood I imaged our family growing.  I always desired at least 3 kiddos.  I still picture brushing my little girls hair and imagine a house full of children.  Sadly, after Ayden was born I never regained my period again except for when I was nursing, which is the only time your not suppose to get your period, well with the exception of pregnancy.  I don’t know why?  I just stopped ovulating.  I’ve tried clomid and estrogen….you name it, with no luck.

As weird as it may sound I started taking Zoloft in February and by April I was having a period.  I think it may have been that I put on weight with the Zoloft or that it helped my stress level, but somehow I’ve had it almost every month or every other month.  I thought that meant I was ovulating again, but it doesn’t.  You can have your period and not ovulate?  Strange! What’s the point then?  Just to feel like crap a few weeks out of every month.  There is ONE THING that is new to me.  I never got tender breasts when I had a period before.  Now about 4-5 days before I start my breasts hurt.  They feel like hard lumps.  I hate it. Does anyone else have this?  Ugg.  It’s like I’m finally realizing how it is to be a woman and it stinks.

Anyways, let me give you the circuit

Be careful if your boobs hurt.  The running about killed me. I need a super duper sports bra.

For breakfast I did the French toast thing again.  I heated up the griddle and sprayed it.  I took a tbsp of Adam’s peanut butter and mixed it with a tsp of Carob powder, a tbsp of protein powder and a splash of Almond breeze.  I stirred it all up and spread it on one slice of wheat bread.  I put the other slice of bread on top. I whisked one egg in a bowl and dipped my sandwich in. Turned and repeated.  Threw it on the griddle.  Flipped.  Placed on a plate.  Topped it with sugar free syrup and sprinkled on a little more Carob powder, sea salt and a few dark chocolate chips 🙂
